This is the longest essay I've written so far. Philosophy is a really abstract and comprehensive subject, which makes me struggled with how to organise the ideas of well-known philosophers. The essay is about comparing two systems of thoughts learned in the course. And there is a wide range of systems to choose from: Greek philosophy, classical Chinese philosophy, classical Indian philosophy, classical Islamic philosophy, African philosophy and Indigenous Australian philosophies. At last, I chose two that I'm familiar with, the classical Chinese philosophy and the Greek philosophy, because I have studied these two systems at high school. The most challenging part of the task is to identify the comparable aspects of these two systems. Since there have to be several similarities for comparison, I dug into the ideas of two representative philosophers, Lao-Tzu and Aristotle. However, I found it arduous to summarise three aspects of their scattered ideas that share several common grounds. But finally, I managed to sum up three groups of comparable philosophical approaches: how they perceive the physical world, how they handle choices, and how they deal with differences.
